In a world where furniture, fire and animals come to life, Ravel’s dreamy lyric score spins a modern fable with an ageless message. Staged as a double-bill performance with Puccini’s one-act Gianni Schicchi, families are invited to participate in free supplementary activities for children outlined below! Allow your children to experience opera and live theater in a family-friendly setting.

When an old curmudgeon dies, who inherits his fortune? In the aftermath of a wealthy man’s passing, Puccini’s one-act spins the uproarious tale of scheming relatives and one crafty neighbor, Gianni Schicchi. Based on a brief reference in Dante’s Inferno, this comic opera showcases a wonderfully verismo ensemble cast singing Puccini’s score full of humorous musical devices and features one of the most memorable arias in the operatic canon, “O mio babbino caro.”
